SOC 400 - Contemporary American Indian Health and Wellness
Units: 3Examines American Indian/Alaskan Native (AIAN) health and wellness from a contemporary public and community health/epidemiologic perspective. Studies current AIAN health status and health behaviors and maintenance of a healthy environment, and theories of health behavior change. Tribal sovereignty and connectedness related to personal/community health and health care access will be evident throughout all aspects of the course. Includes historical and contemporary perspectives and ethical standards for tribally-appropriate health-related research and associated historic issues will be discussed. Also offered as AIS 400. Students may not receive credit for both.May not be taken for credit by students who have received credit for NATV 380-2 and SOC 489-6.
