An Open Door to Your Success

Open University operates on a space-available basis, allowing the general public and CSUSM alumni* to take undergraduate and graduate classes during the fall and spring semesters without being formally admitted to California State University San Marcos.

Taking courses through Open University allows you to:

• Enroll in classes if you’ve missed the CSUSM application deadline
• Examine a field of study before enrolling in a degree program
• Update your skills
• Attend classes on a non-continuous basis
• Raise your grade point average (GPA) prior to application
• Pursue personal intellectual interests in any field

Credits earned through Open University may be applied to degree work at CSUSM or at other universities and colleges.

* Regularly admitted CSUSM students are not eligible for Open University
