Program of Study
The Art and Visual Culture Studio Minor is designed for students with a special interest in studio arts (e.g., drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture) who are not able to make the full commitment to the major (see the Art and Visual Culture Option in the Art, Media, and Design Major). Students complete a select series of courses that offer them skills in traditional studio arts and in new technologies as well as a basic overview of historical and current practices in art. Those with an interest in Visual Culture and Art History should complete the Art and Visual Culture Studies Minor.
Requirements
Note: Courses used to satisfy requirements of the minor may also be used to fulfill General Education requirements. Students may apply up to nine (9) units of transfer credit toward the minor. Students must earn a grade of C (2.0) or better in each course for the minor. At least twelve (12) units of coursework submitted for the minor must be completed at CSUSM. AMD Digital and Media Arts (DAMA) majors may pursue this minor if nine (9) units are mutually exclusive, i.e., not double-counted for the major and the minor. AMD Art and Visual Culture (AVC) majors cannot pursue this minor. Courses toward the AVC Studio minor cannot be counted toward another minor.
