Psychological Science Minor

Program of Study


The Minor in Psychological Science consists of 21 units. Students majoring in Child and Adolescent Development (CHAD) interested in the Minor in Psychological Science will need to take 12 units of coursework in Psychological Science coursework that do not count for CHAD. This will provide CHAD students with additional breadth in Psychological Science.

Special Conditions for the Bachelor of Arts and Minor in Psychological Science


All courses counted toward the major, including Preparation for the Major courses, and the minor must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better. No more than a total of three (3) units of either PSYC 498 or PSYC 499 may be applied toward the major or minor. No more than three (3) units of PSYC 495  may be applied toward the major or minor. PSYC 356  may satisfy the Developmental Core, but it does not serve as a prerequisite for the PSYC 395  laboratory course. A minimum of eighteen (18) units counted toward the psychological science major must have been completed at Cal State San Marcos. For the Minor, nine (9) units must have been completed at Cal State San Marcos. Students majoring in Child and Adolescent Development (CHAD) or Human Development may not satisfy the lab requirement for the Psychological Science Minor with PSYC 395 . Courses taken at other universities for which we do not have articulation agreements will not be counted toward the major or minor at Cal State San Marcos without the written permission of any member of the Psychology faculty listed above.
