TPA and TPE Assessment

Please Note: Candidates entering programs that result in the issuance of a Multiple or Single Subject Credential must pass the embedded Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) before an online recommendation of the credential can be submitted to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing by the CEHHS, Student Services Office.

Clear Credential Requirements

Successful completion of the program results in issuance of a Preliminary 5-year 2042 credential. Candidates are required to complete an induction program to qualify for the Clear Credential.

First Semester

EDSS 511 - Secondary Teaching and Learning Units: 3
EDSS 521 - Secondary Literacy Units: 3
EDSS 555 - Secondary Multilingual Education Units: 3
EDSS 571 - Clinical Practice in Secondary Schools I Units: 6
EDUC 590A - CalTPA Performance Assessment Cycle I Units: 1
EDSS 574A - Clinical Practice Seminar for Single Subject Teacher Preparation (A) Units: 1
Additional Methods Course Requirements
Each student enrolled as a Mathematics, Science, English or Social Science credential candidate is required to enroll in a total of four (4) units of additional methods course requirements over two semesters from the list below. Candidates must take the subject area methods courses as a sequence, taking the A course in the first semester and the corresponding B course in the second semester.
