Program of Study


The Minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies emphasizes intersectionality to examine how different forms of identity, such as race, gender, class, sexuality (to name a few) are linked together and impact individual and social experiences.

Students will take courses that address contemporary issues such as reproductive justice, ecofeminism, transnational feminism, or gender and violence.

Requirements for the Minor


  • Completion of twenty-one (21) units of credit, twelve (12) units of which must be at the upper-division level.
  • A maximum of six (6) units may be counted toward both the major and the minor. (All courses counted toward the Major must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better.)
  • No more than six (6) units of independent study (WGSS 398) and/or independent research (WGSS 499) and/or internship (WGSS 495A-F) may be applied toward the major.

Electives (9 Units)


At most, three (3) elective units may be completed at the lower-division level.
