Program of Study
The Minor in Digital and Media Arts combines practice and theory in digital art, internet art, media design, video, audio, and hybrid media. It offers the student an introduction to technologically based art and design as well as video and sound production through research and lab-based courses. The minor encourages students to be experimental in their approach to art and media.
Students whose primary interest is to study the role of media and technology in societies/cultures should see the Media Studies Minor. Students whose primary interests are film history, theory, criticism, and appreciation are encouraged to see the Film Studies Minor .
Requirements
Note: Courses used to satisfy requirements of the minor may also be used to fulfill General Education requirements. Students may apply up to nine (9) units of transfer credit toward the minor. Students must earn a grade of C (2.0) or better in each course for the minor. At least twelve (12) units of coursework submitted for the minor must be completed at CSUSM. Art and Visual Culture (AVC) majors may pursue this minor if nine (9) units are mutually exclusive, i.e., not double-counted for the major and minor. AMD majors cannot also pursue this minor. Courses for the DAMA minor cannot be counted towards another minor.
