Fundamental principles of thermodynamics introduced in CHEM 150 are explored in greater depth. Subjects include solubility, acids and bases, electrochemistry, coordination chemistry, colligative properties and nuclear chemistry. Applications of these topics to practical chemical analysis are discussed. Includes problem-solving sessions not included in CHEM 160 . Intended for chemistry and biochemistry majors as well as anyone else who seeks greater exposure to general chemistry concepts and problem-solving strategies. Students may not receive credit for both CHEM 160 and CHEM 162. Three hours of lecture. One hour of discussion.
Prerequisite(s): CHEM 150 and CHEM 150L with minimum grades of C (2.0). MATH 125 , MATH 126 , or MATH 160 with a minimum grade of C (2.0).
