LBST 361 - The Social Construction of ScienceUnits: 3 Explores the field of social construction of science, a true interdisciplinary area of investigation, historically built from existing perspectives in the social sciences (predominantly sociology but also anthropology, socio-linguistics, history, and philosophy). Introduces students to the basic theoretical concepts required for the analysis of science as a socio- phenomenon, its internal and external constructions, and its practice. The application of the basic tools and key concepts in the course will be accomplished through a focused exercise that explores one specific area of science such as the human genome project or distributed information systems. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: LBST 361B .
