SOC 530 - Social Theory and Public PolicyUnits: 4 Provides an intensive study of both classical and contemporary social theory. Primarily emphasizes sociological theories, but also includes critical, postmodern, feminist and race theories. Theoretical perspectives are used to understand public policy as both governmental and non-governmental interventions to solve social problems. Particular emphasis is placed on theoretically guided analyses of the creation, maintenance, and change of social policy. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: SOC 610. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Sociological Practice Program.
