NURS 200 - Introduction to Nursing PracticeUnits: 4 An overview of nursing, including the philosophy and organizing theory of the nursing program. Introduces the core concepts and clinical skills common to all levels of nursing practice. Familiarizes the student with the use of the nursing process and of nursing care based on the Orem Self-Care Model. Describes the dimensions of the professional role as provider of care, teacher, advocate, coordinator of care, and member of the profession. Successful completion of the required science courses will be required for acceptance into the nursing program and to move into nursing courses. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to students who have obtained consent of the Director of the School of Nursing.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 175 , CHEM 105 , CHEM 105L , BIOL 176 , and BIOL 160 , each with a minimum grade of C (2.0). Corequisite(s): NURS 201 , NURS 210 , and NURS 211 .
