HIST 601 - The Philosophy and Practice of HistoryUnits: 3 Exploration of the nature of historical inquiry, including historiography, different genres of history, and methods of research used in advanced historical writing. Introduction to core philosophical debates about historical methods and to texts exemplifying different kinds of historical writing. Students must earn a grade of B (3.0) or higher to apply toward a Master’s degree in History. May be repeated for a total of six 6 units. Only three (3) units may be applied toward the Master’s degree in History. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to students enrolled in the Master of Arts in History Program, or to other graduate students who have obtained consent of instructor.
