AIS 400 - Contemporary American Indian Health and WellnessUnits: 3 Examines American Indian/Alaskan Native (AIAN) health and wellness from a contemporary public and community health/epidemiologic perspective. Studies current AIAN health status and health behaviors and maintenance of a healthy environment, and theories of health behavior change. Tribal sovereignty and connectedness related to personal/community health and health care access will be evident throughout all aspects of the course. Includes historical and contemporary perspectives and ethical standards for tribally-appropriate health-related research and associated historic issues will be discussed. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: NATV 380-2 and SOC 489 -6. Cross-listed: AIS 400 and SOC 400 are cross-listed. Students may not receive credit for both.
