NURS 493 - Nurse ExternshipUnits: 2 Designed for traditional and accelerated BSN nursing students to work in a clinical setting and strengthen their professional nurse identity by working under the supervision of a clinical preceptor as a role model. Allows for acquisition of additional clinical practice in a real work setting. This course is an optional senior-level experience. NURS 493 may be substituted for NURS 491 if a student has an externship the final semester of the program. May be repeated three times for a total of six 6 units. Grading Basis: Graded Credit/No Credit. Enrollment Restrictions: For both traditional BSN and accelerated BSN programs, enrollment is restricted to students who have obtained consent of the Extern Program Coordinator.
Prerequisite(s): NURS 320 and NURS 321 for traditional BSN students; NURS 324 and NURS 325 for accelerated BSN students.
