PHIL 330 - Philosophy in LiteratureUnits: 3 Selected readings of literary and philosophical texts, attuned to the problem of human identity. Literary texts present concrete examples of individuals facing the task of forging an understanding of themselves; philosophical texts offer a variety of conceptual and terminological resources for the study of the processes of self-identification. Themes include: society, culture, and history; action and social interaction; public and private life; time and mortality; sexuality and gender; race and ethnicity; and modes of self-knowledge.
