MATH 470 - Introduction to Abstract AlgebraUnits: 3 An introduction to the theory of groups, rings, and fields, with abstract ideas reinforced by concrete and important examples, such as permutation groups, polynomial rings, and finite fields. The power of the axiomatic systems introduced will be illustrated via several applications to concrete and classical problems.
Prerequisite(s): for undergraduates and enrollment requirement(s) for graduate students: MATH 378 with a grade of C (2.0) or better.
