BIOL 376 - Medical ParasitologyUnits: 3 Introduces the study of medically important protozoan, helminth, and arthropod parasites of humans. Emphasizes parasite life cycles, mode(s) of transmission, geographic distributions of parasites and their vectors, pathology, host responses, infection prevention, case studies, diagnosis, and treatment. Explores drug resistance using principles of host-parasite interactions and their co-evolution with emphasis on neglected tropical disease examples. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 212 with a minimum grade of C (2.0).
