SLP 631 - Law and Ethics for the Speech-Language PractitionerUnits: 3 Introduces state and federal laws regarding the practice of speech-language pathology in the California public schools and in healthcare settings. Covers special education law, ethical issues in special education; procedures to identify and determine eligibility for special education; and the Individual Education Program planning, implementation, and evaluation process. Addresses patient rights; Medicare documentation and billing; patient centered care; end-of-life ethical decisions and universal precautions. Engages students in practicing principles of effective collaborative and interdisciplinary teaming and focus on best practices in both settings. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: EDSL 631. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to SLP, M.S. majors.
