MUSC 240  - Vocal and Instrumental Instruction

Units: 1


Prepares music majors for individual performance on a solo instrument or voice.  Explores a variety of pedagogical approaches through individualized repertoire selection, etudes, exercise, and technique. Examines progress from individual practice.  Course expectations include performance in monthly performance forums and an end of semester performance jury for the full faculty.

 
Recommended Preparation: Students who have not previously studied applied music should take the corresponding group class before enrolling in MUSC 240.

  May be repeated; a total of eight (8) units may be counted toward graduation requirements. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to music students who have received consent of instructor. Enrollment Requirement(s): By audition only. Students approved for MUSC 240 must be co-enrolled in appropriate ensembles at CSUSM (University Choir, University Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, or World Music Ensemble, etc).
