HD 382 - Anti-Racism, Social Justice, and Human DevelopmentUnits: 3 Explores contemporary social justice issues affecting human development and their implication for counselors and other health and human service providers. Examines how racism and other systems of oppression operate on individual, institutional, and social/cultural levels; depend on historical legacies embedded in institutions; and persist through individuals’ socialization and participation. Develops critical awareness, knowledge, and skills for analyzing power structures, reflecting on one’s own social identities and positionality, and challenging supremacist ideologies. Considers theories and practical applications for social change and collective liberation. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to students with Junior or Senior standing.
