AMD 421 - Art and Social ChangeUnits: 3 Exploration of how the desire for social change has led modern and contemporary artists and art movements to align with political and social causes. Readings may include theoretical texts, artists’ proposals and manifestos, and case studies in arts and political engagement. Consideration of students’ own capacities for community leadership and arguments, motivations, and actions that allow them to contribute to social change creatively through participating in service learning or a class project. May be repeated for credit for a total of six (6) units. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: VPA 380-18 and VSAR 460.
