BIOL 480 - Bioinformatics

An overview of the field of bioinformatics, which lies at the crossroads between the fields of molecular biology and computer science, and examines the structure and function of genes, proteins, and whole genomes through the use of computation analysis, statistics, and pattern recognition. A combination of lecture/class discussions and hands-on instruction in the use of, and theory behind bioinformatics algorithms/software used in genome analysis will be presented.
